    A Day In the Life of a Meteoroligist
    The “Weather Girl” is a thing of the past. Meteorologists are one of the most important members of the morning news crew. Entire television channels are now dedicated to weather reports!

    Introduce your class to one of Arizona’s top meteorologists, Ed Phillips. Ed has been a weather forcaster in Phoenix, Arizona for over 20 years. He speaks to students about the weather profession as well as the effects of weather on the world.
     
     
    About Senator Phillips:  

    Mr. Phillips has excelled in the weather profession as a television and radio meteorologist. He has been at KTAR Radio in Phoenix for more than 20 years. Ed's weather forecasts are heard throughout the state on 10 radio stations through his radio syndication company, OnAirPeople.com. He continues to provide weather consulting services with his company Weather Communications Inc.

    Ed is also the host and executive producer of the Arizona Almanac Radio Show heard Saturdays around Arizona and on the web at www.azalmanac.com.


    Mr. Phillips holds a degree in Aeronautical Meteorology from Parks College of Aeronautical Technology of St. Louis University. He has been an involved citizen in the state serving as a State Senator for two terms in the 1990s. He is also a pilot with an airplane and helicopter rating and is a professional member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS). He served two years on their national Board of Broadcast Meteorology. In 1981, he received the Radio Seal of Approval from the Board of Broadcast Meteorology of the AMS.
