Students will learn about the controls in a plane, how you can become a pilot and how pilots study and train. Ed Phillips has over a thousand hours in the air, and guides students through this exciting passport. Join us in this passport where, ‘the sky’s the limit’!   Ah, the joys of writing! Students will learn about the profession of writing and illustrating from a children’s book author.   Ah, the joys of writing! Students will learn about the profession of writing and illustrating from Robert San Souci, the award winning children’s book author. Hearing about the author’s background and passions will inspire students to follow their creative interests! Robert San Souci retells traditional tales and among his collection of wonderful stories is Fa Mulan based on the nearly 2,000-year-old "Ballad of Mulan". Robert San Souci wrote the film story for Disney's Mulan.   Feel the heat – 2,100 Degrees Farenheit! Students will learn about the craft of glass blowing, revealing the skill, creativity, teamwork, and sweat involved in creating glass works of art. Students will learn about a trade that dates back thousands of years. Students will be amazed at the technique, color, and tools used to produce unique pieces of art.

 

   Ah, the joys of illustrating! Students will learn about the art and craft of illustrating and graphic design. Students will explore the way technology tools have re-defined the illustration process. After participating in this Passports, students will have greater appreciation and understanding of the importance of illustrations.

  Can you imagine being in charge of building the Ancient Egyptian pyramids, or designing the tallest building in the world? If you choose a career as an architect, you just may be responsible for building sky scrapers, museums, homes or stadiums!   Experience the power of the human-animal bond by learning about guide dogs for the blind. Students will truly understand the value of teamwork. Students will be exposed to the daily challenges blind people experience and the accommodations they must make to successfully function in society.   Explore the relationship between humans and animals through the eyes of a veterinarian! Students will learn about animal medicine. Students will gain insight into the general environment of a veterinary clinic, understand the education and training process required to become a veterinarian, and learn about the skills and knowledge essential for success.
